A Garden for Everyone
Two years ago, the empty land behind the Taman Sri Muda community hall was full of rubbish and tall grass. (33) ________ Today, it is a green garden full of vegetables, herbs and fruit trees.
The idea came from Encik Rahman, a retired teacher who lives nearby. (34) ________ At first, only five families agreed to help. They cleared the rubbish and dug the soil every Saturday morning.
Soon, other residents saw the changes. (35) ________ Now more than forty families, including many students from the nearby school, take care of the garden. Each family has its own small plot, but everyone shares the tools and the water tank.
The garden is good for the residents' health. (36) ________ Many of them also eat more vegetables now because they grow them themselves. Puan Lee, who is seventy, says she has never felt fitter.
The students have learned a lot too. (37) ________ They also make compost from fruit peel and dry leaves, so the garden does not need to buy fertiliser.
Every December, the residents hold a harvest festival in the garden. (38) ________ The money they collect is used to buy seeds and new tools for the next year.
However, the garden still has some problems. (39) ________ The residents are now raising money to build a fence around it.
Encik Rahman hopes that other neighbourhoods will start their own gardens. (40) ________
For 33 to 36, choose from the sentences (A - D).

| B | Working in the garden is good exercise, especially for the older residents. |

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your email. It's great that you're on the committee!
I think you should have a fun run around the school field. It is a good idea because running is healthy, and everyone can join, even students who are not very sporty.
To get more students to join, you can give a medal to everyone who finishes. You could also put up colourful posters and make an announcement at assembly.
Good luck, and tell me how it goes!
Take care,
Aina

Our School Trip to Kuala Selangor
Last month, the Form 1 students of my school went on a trip to Kuala Selangor. We travelled there by bus, and the journey took about two hours. On the way, we sang songs and played games.
First, we climbed Bukit Melawati. At the top, we saw some silver leaf monkeys. They were grey and very friendly. At night, we took a boat ride to see the fireflies. Thousands of tiny lights were blinking in the trees. It was amazing!
When I got home, I was tired but happy. I learned that we must protect nature.
