2.1Science Room rules

The Science Room is a special room. We do fun science activities there. We must be safe, so we have rules.

A rule tells us what we must do and what we must not do. To obey a rule means to follow it.

Rule 1: line up

Line up before you go into the Science Room. Do not push.

Pupils standing in a line outside the Science Room while the teacher stands at the door
Line up before entering the Science Room.

Rule 2: ask permission

Ask the teacher's permission before you go in. Wait for the teacher to say yes.

Three pupils at the door asking the teacher for permission to enter
Ask for the teacher's permission.

Rule 3: no playing and running

Playing and running are prohibited (not allowed) in the Science Room. We could fall down and get hurt.

Pupils running and throwing a paper plane in the Science Room while the teacher shouts
No playing and running.

Rule 4: no eating and drinking

Eating and drinking are prohibited in the Science Room. Food and drinks can make the room dirty.

Two pupils eating and drinking at a table in the Science Room
No eating and drinking.

Rule 5: clean and tidy up

Clean and tidy up the Science Room before you leave. Put the stools in order and throw rubbish in the bin.

Playing and running can hurt us. Never run in the Science Room.

Why do we obey the rules?

A tidy Science Room where pupils put the stools away and throw rubbish in the bin
Obey: the room is clean and tidy.
A messy Science Room with a fallen stool and rubbish on the floor
Disobey: the room is dirty and dangerous.

  • If we obey: the room is cleaner and tidier, and we can learn well.
  • If we do not obey: the room is dirty and dangerous. We could get hurt and we cannot learn.
  • If we throw rubbish into the sink, the sink is blocked.
A pupil learns at the table while two pupils ask the teacher for permission at the door
We can learn well.
Pupils running in the Science Room and one falls while the teacher points
We can get hurt.
